This course explores animation as an inherently cross-disciplinary field of studies and practice, one that interrogates institutional approaches to art and intersects with both the sciences and technology. Team-taught by art historian Dr. Jorgelina Orfila and a graphic designer Dr. Francisco Ortega, specialized in the history of animation, this transdisciplinary course addresses fundamental questions about the nature of art and its relationship with popular culture, cinema, and the new media some see as its successor.
