My piece, Hummingbird Travels West, is a lenticular animation featuring the titular hummingbird going from my home city of Dallas to Lubbock where our museum exhibit was held at. I created this piece during the final year of my undergraduate degree as an animation major. I love experimenting with forms of animation and, when tasked to create a physical piece displaying animation, I knew I wanted to tackle lenticulars and see what was possible and how far I could push the method. I experimented with both layered lenticulars and differing movements in the foreground and background that ultimately converged into a fun interactive animation with many details and movements that I hope attendees enjoyed.

You can tell and it is easy to appreciate when love and passion were put into the work. My animation process usually starts with learning of a cool style of animation and toying and experimenting with it to find a new way to showcase or perceive it.

The lenticular panel is critical in viewing the work as its motion quote symbol
