For several years, my work has explored time as a theme. Apuntes is a journey through thoughts about time, born from gestural drawings, stamp marks, and inkblots that come to life on the pages of a blank notebook. The short film nods to Rembrandt’s work, with the character’s expression inspired by one of his self-portraits. As the notes unfold, the notebook becomes a space that challenges the linearity of time.
The film aims to share my reflection on the non-linear and ephemeral nature of our existence.
Given the short duration of my animations and my role as the sole animator, I don't strictly follow storyboards. Sometimes, I create short animations purely for the sake of movement, and these can later be incorporated into more complex works. By experimenting with different materials and techniques, I can express subtle or complex ideas that evolve throughout the process. This transformation during the animation process frequently surprises me with its unexpected developments. For me, animation is an art form with limitless boundaries. Its interdisciplinary nature allows us to explore through it, any medium we wish. Through animation, we can research concepts and experiment not only with materials but also with movement, sound, and storytelling.
