Over the years I have gathered numerous materials, objects, or waste that I found appealing somehow. This collection became a sort of personal cabinet of curiosities. Historias Residuales arises precisely from these materials and try to unveil the connections or stories they suggested to me.
The slogan inscribed on one of the boxes of the collection became my personal motto for this project: Let's play again! The goal was to tell small stories or ideas condensed in a single image, a short series, or a brief animated piece.
Historias Residuales is divided into chapters or themes, which arise from phrases and titles found in the magazines themselves, sometimes suggestive, sometimes funny or critical, but above all that make us reflect on the small and big issues of life.
The titles point out to certain stories, leaving room for the viewer to complete their own. The project proposes a new approach to the immensity and variety of images and objects that surround us, decontextualizing and resignifying them.
The material adds a synesthetic approach to the animation, connecting the visual and tactile dimensions of sensorial experience and uncovering the trick. Moreover, animation makes it possible to bring the inanimate to life, providing deep layers of meaning in a few seconds and making an immediate impact on the viewer.
